Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got significant support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
