Arteta Warns Fitness Crisis Could Undermine Arsenal's Silverware Hunt
Arsenal's manager has expressed concern that his team's chase for titles this season is being jeopardized by a concerning cycle of injuries and a relentless fixture list.

There was, however, better news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the South American striker registered to their Champions League squad. He replaces the hurt youngster Max Dowman, who picked up an ankle injury.
"Training, no because we lack time to train. But clearly the fact that you are without players, you are placing demands on other players more, there's a knock-on effect to that and it's a truly dangerous circle."
Dowman's issue is the most recent in a long list of fitness problems for the club. Since the beginning of last season, they have recorded 95 injuries, the second-most total in the Premier League.

Arteta rejected the idea that practice intensity were to blame, citing a lack of opportunity for drills. He highlighted the strain on fit players, some of whom have featured over 150 games in two seasons.
Recruitment Strategy
Despite a significant summer investment over ÂŁ250 million, Arteta stated the team is not planning to dip into the January transfer market.
"Right now we're just concentrating on bringing the players back and hopefully it will be a question of a short time," he commented. "We know how crucial those coming weeks are going to be."
Looking Ahead
The squad experienced their initial loss in 18 matches at the hands of Aston Villa, reducing their lead at the summit of the league to two points.
Attention now shifts to the European stage, where a sixth consecutive group victory would all but guarantee a knockout phase place. Forward Gabriel Martinelli could create history by finding the net in a fifth successive Champions League fixture.
"The team is disappointed with the outcome, but we have to keep going," he stated. "It's not like everything is going wrong because we lost one game. So we stick together."
