Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
