The comedian

Prolific writer for children and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, according to an announcement.

A spokesman for the company commented: "Following a thorough review, and with the guidance of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was taken subsequent to an inquiry regarding reports of questionable actions towards female individuals.

The company did not confirm the reasons for its decision, noting: "We do not comment on private personnel issues."

An Illustrious Writing Journey

Walliams is one of the UK's most best-selling authors for kids, with sales exceeding more than 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins back in 2008.

Some of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as television films.

His bibliography includes over four dozen titles combined, which features a festive story called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

Television and Literature

He first rose to fame on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago for his services to the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO in October.
