Reigning Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Accolades.

The tennis star in action
The Belarusian player ended the season with an notable 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of High Performance

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
  • Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
