Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

This update on his health comes as the sports world offered sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
